Lois Heyerdahl

We heard from the family of Lois Heyerdahl, Lois passed the morning of January 16, 2012.

Lois Heyerdahl was an influential dressage trainer, judge, and instructor in United States. She taught clinics across the country from Introductory to Grand Prix dressage. In 1977, she began her judging career in the first United States Equestrian Team (USET) learner-judge program. She was a Senior "S" Judge in Dressage, a candidate for the US Equestrian Team from 1979 to 1983, and a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist. Lois trained seven horses to Grand Prix, four of them from start to finish, and was top ten in all FEI levels with her horses Silhouette and Vertex. Lois was a founding member of WDCTA.

A memorial service was held on Friday at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta with Pastor Jason Schockman officiating. 

Lois's family would like any donations made in her memory to go to USDF to purchase a memorial brick which will be placed at the front entrance of the USDF buliding at the Kentucky Horse Park. This "8x8" memorial brick will cost $2,000.00 dollars. The USDF is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization (tax exempt). Contributions should be made out to USDF, and sent to Barbara Wiefelstede, PO Box 175, Doswell, Virginia 23047.  The brick will be inscribed: In Memory of Lois Heyerdahl, Friend-Mentor Trainer -"S" Judge.  The proceeds from your contributions will go to the USDF National Education Endowment Fund.
