Results for August 2015 Capital Mini Event

We had a wonderful and fun weekend! Our clinicians Megan Dischler, dressage, and Kerry Zimlicka, jumping, were knowledgable, helpful and positive during Saturday's clinic, when each horse and rider got to learn about jumping and dressage. The Horse First Farm was as always beautifully turned out and manicured. Thanks to manager Kelly Messera and the awesome staff at The Horse First!!

We had a full complement of 30 riders for the 4 divisions on Sunday. With just enough rain to soften the ground and relieve the dust, cross-country conditions were PERFECT! 23 horse/rider combinations completed all 3 divisions. This year our 2nd place rider in Adult Elementary was none other than the farm's owner, Carlos Osario, with his borrowed horse Leo. Carlos had a great time, and is thinking about how to expand and improve the course for next year and years to come. Good news for eventing in our area!

A giant thank-you to all the volunteers and the fantastic volunteer co-ordinators Jan Ketzler and Betsy Kelly. Thank-you to the Scorers Denise Sobering and Deb Bell. Blessings upon all the jump judges, helpers, gate keepers, ring stewards, scribes ,runners, set-up and take-down help, and once again many thanks to our prize sponsor SMARTPAK and our walky talky sponsor KAREN CEDERHOLM!!!

UP Chapter Friends Helping Friends Mini Clinic

UP Chapter

The UP Chapter got together at Kathy Caspary’s Farm in Dollar Bay on November 3, 2013. We want to have activities that would help us with our riding. We have all had many lessons with very good instructors and thought we could share our experiences with each other. Three of us, Tina, Kathy and Mary, were the initial “guinea pigs”. What fun we had! We each rode about 30 minutes, working on transitions, bending, and confidence building. We didn’t freeze with the 40 degree temps and cool wind blowing. It seems that our riding backgrounds are very similar and the observers had great suggestions. (We are about 2 hours distance from each other). Our next mini-clinic will be in December in the Marquette area in an indoor arena as soon as a date is figured out.

Results for June 2015 Capital Mini Event

Sadly, due to the wet conditions, we had to drop cross country and only run the CME One (June) as a 2 phase event only (dressage and stadium jumping). Clinic riders did get to preview the cross country course and jump some of the fences with better footing on Saturday. NOTE: all riders from the mini-event are invited to school the cross country course at The Horse First FREE. Just call Kelly Messera to make arrangements!

KM Chapter Hosts a Whimsical Horse Painting Social Oct 2015

KM Chapter Social

We thought it would be fun to have a horse related social event without horses.

We were right! Everyone who went had fun. The studio sketched in the outline of the horses head, and then they walked us through the steps to complete the painting. Even I, with no painting experience, left with a completed painting. A few members obviously had talent and experience as was seen by the quality of their paintings. I am not planning on hanging my painting in my living room but I had fun creating it with friends. Also unknown to us when setting up the date, it was trick-or-treating in downtown Waukesha businesses. So while we painted they were lots of visitors admiring our work and getting a treat.

Ride Times

This clinic offers riders, age 21 and under, the opportunity to have a lesson with clinician Katie Foster, USDF Bronze and Silver medalist who competed on the Region 2 Junior Rider team and the Young Rider team. And, as an option, riders can use the last portion of their 45-minute lesson to ride a dressage test and get scores and comments from "L" graduate Tracey Dikkers.
